Welcome Nur, our newest team member!
Hello everyone š. I’m thrilled to announce that Iām returning to Picture News as a full-time Education Consultant yeayyyyy! My journey with Picture News initially began as an intern, and Iām excited to continue contributing to a company that aligns so closely with my passion for education and global awareness.
In my previous blog, My Internship with Picture News, I shared how that experience was transformative for me. During my time as an intern, I had the opportunity to dive deep into researching data on ESL needs and strategies. One of the highlights was also working with Katie on a mock resource project for Picture News Talk (cue the dramatic music: jeng jeng jeng), where I helped develop engaging materials designed for young minds.
Reflecting on my teaching experience in Malaysia back in 2020, I realised that my passion for education and creating resources for students has only grown stronger. That teaching experience, combined with my work at Picture News, reignited the same burning passion Iāve always had for making learning accessible and exciting for students. The supportive and collaborative environment at Picture News allowed me to bring that passion into my projects, and I remember how open the team was whenever I needed help or feedback. This experience not only enhanced my professional skills but also solidified my desire to pursue a career in educational consulting.
In my internship blog, I mentioned how the companyās mission to bring the world into the classroom resonated deeply with me. The values of fostering curiosity and critical thinking in students are principles I hold dear. The culture at Picture News is something I greatly admireāthe teamās dedication, the innovative projects, and the impact on the educational sector make it a place where I know I can grow and make a meaningful difference.
Transitioning from an intern to a full-time Education Consultant is a journey Iām incredibly proud of. The skills and experiences I gained during my internship laid a strong foundation for this next big step. I vividly recall writing about the guidance I received, which empowered me to take initiative and contribute significantly to projects. The challenges I faced during my internship taught me resilience and adaptabilityāqualities that I know will serve me well in my new role. Iām deeply grateful to my manager and colleagues who believed in me and provided valuable support along the way.
In this new chapter, Iāll be focusing on developing innovative educational resources that bring current events into the classroom in engaging ways for ESL learners (this is where Picture News Talk comes ināhihi). Building upon the work I did as an intern, I aim to create content that not only informs but also inspires students to think critically about the world around them. Iām excited to collaborate with my experienced colleagues to tailor resources that meet the needs of diverse classrooms. With the skills I honed during my internship, Iām confident in my ability to make a positive impact.
Lastly, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone at Picture News (including Bobby š and Jerry š¶, whom I have yet to meet) for welcoming me back with open arms. Your support during my internship, and now as I step into this new role, means the world to me. Iām excited to see how this next chapter unfolds and look forward to the adventures ahead!
