Meet Chloe, our newest team member!
Hi, I’m Chloe, and I’m the newest member of the Education Team at Picture News!
An avid traveller and keen linguist, I have lived and worked in Martinique, Taiwan, South Korea and Australia. Since training to teach with Teach First in 2017, I have worked across the primary age range in schools in London, Essex and North Yorkshire.
In early spring 2024, I joined the Picture News Team. On my first morning, I was met with smiles all round and a nice cup of Yorkshire Tea – it was a great start! I felt instantly at home working alongside other former teachers who have patiently talked me through all things Picture News.
So far, I have been spending my time writing various KS1 resources, as well as supporting Nika by planning fun themed ideas for our Care resource. I have worked alongside Lisa to write the Early Years and Symbols packs, and I am currently in training to deliver my first Virtual Assembly thanks to guidance from Jo!
This week, I went to my first event, Flourishing for All, along with Lisa. It was an early start (!) but a nice trip out of the office, and it was so exciting to speak to school leaders, find out about how they use our resources and hear how much they love them! Their enthusiasm for Picture News was palpable and even resulted in new schools signing up to try out our resources!
I have particularly enjoyed sitting in on webinars delivered by all members of the Picture News team as I can see how these are so well-received by our schools. The children’s creativity, open-mindedness and critical thinking in response to topics such as discrimination, wealth inequality and personal beliefs, to name a few, never fails to impress me and is my inspiration for striving to write the best resources I can.
Change can be scary, and the transition from classroom to office has been a strange one! However, office life at Picture News has been welcoming, fun and rewarding thanks especially to Lisa, Jo, Katie, Nika and Ruth. We constantly share ideas and support each other, having plenty of laughs and cups of tea along the way.
I can’t wait to find out how my future will unfold at Picture News!
