Picture News Digital Designer
We’re very excited to announce that we are looking for a new member of our very friendly Picture News Team.
At Picture News we make accessible, thought provoking educational news resources to help stimulate engaging discussion, challenge preconceptions and encourage the development of critical thinking skills.
We are based in a former primary school in the beautiful village of Bishop Thornton near Harrogate, and we are exploring new markets as our core school base grows.
Since our launch in 2016, we now have over 3,600 UK and international schools subscribed to our resources and we have recently developed content for the residential care market.
The role will be full time and permanent (following a 3-month probation period) and include 25 days holiday. We would consider a hybrid model of remote working, requiring a minimum of 2 office-based days per week.
Picture News Digital Designer
Responsibilities will include:
- Design for all marketing tool campaigns including e-marketing and print materials
- Regularly review/update brand design
- Working with the marketing team, briefing and advising them with regards to design style, format, print production and timescales
- Working with the education team designing weekly content for our schools
- Developing concepts, graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos and websites – Ensuring all design work is on brand
Essential attributes:
- Graphic or UI design portfolio
- Proven design skills in both print and digital media
- Ability to discuss and to clearly communicate the reasoning behind design choices/options
- Proficient with industrial-standard software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Corel Draw or Free Hand).
Desirable attributes:
- Knowledge in front-end (HTML and CSS) programming skill
- Knowledge in using UI designer (Figma or Adobe XD)
- Bachelor Degree of Design Communication Visual / Design Graphic / Marketing Communication
