Whilst they can be symbols of pride and belonging, they can sometimes spark debate and controversy. Children may have seen an increase in Union and England flags around their local area, or perhaps encountered unsettling content online during the school holidays. We want to help you address what’s been happening, with productive a learning opportunity for pupils. So, as the new school year begins, we're launching the Welcome Back Flag Project - for every school to design their own flags and celebrate community! The Picture News Flags Special Pack includes a ‘Design your own flag’ challenge, and we’d love for schools all over the country to get involved.
Download the free special resource here.
Share your flags on social media using #MySchoolFlag or email them to help@picture-news.co.uk. We’ll celebrate and showcase them to all Picture News schools. We hope the Welcome Back Flag Project will help you start the year with a positive focus on respect and unity!
