This year, we have an exciting programme planned, with some brilliant special guests joining us to explore important events, celebrations and issues throughout the school year. From a live broadcast 600 miles from the South Pole to Black History Month, disability sport, science and Pride, here are the dates to add to your school calendar for 2026–27. Picture News live assemblies: Autumn term 2026 Breaking Barriers: Celebrating Disability Sport Tuesday 6th October, 9.15–9.45am Paralympian Stef Reid joins us for a special assembly celebrating the Variety Disability Sports Awards 2026. Alongside some very special guests, we’ll hear inspiring sporting stories and explore how barriers can be removed so more disabled children can participate, compete and achieve. Black History Month: Honouring Our Communities Thursday 8th October, 9.15–9.45am We’re delighted to welcome Swarzy for our Black History Month live assembly. Together, we’ll celebrate the people, stories and achievements that strengthen and inspire our communities, from honouring those who came before us to recognising those making a difference today. Anti-Bullying Week 2027: The Power of Our Words and Actions Tuesday 17th November, 9.15–9.45am We’ll explore the difference our words and actions can make, helping children recognise bullying, respond safely and seek support. Together, we’ll consider kindness, respect, speaking up for others and the part we can all play in creating a school community where everyone feels safe and included. Assembly LIVE from Antarctica! Monday 30th November, 9.15–9.45am Join polar explorer Robert Swan OBE and Jenny Cooke, co-founder of the 2041 School charity, for a very special live broadcast from Antarctica. Streaming 600 miles from the South Pole, Robert will share stories from the ice, explore the importance of protecting Antarctica and inspire children to think about the part they can play in protecting our planet. Picture News live assemblies: Spring and summer 2027 Children’s Mental Health Week: Growing Together Monday 1st February, 2.15–2.45pm We’ll explore how we can look after our minds and support one another, including understanding and expressing feelings, building resilience and reaching out when we need help. Science Week 2027: Change, Adapt and Discover! Tuesday 9th March, 9.15–9.45am Celebrate British Science Week 2027 with fascinating facts, inspiring stories and thought-provoking questions as we discover how science helps us understand a changing world and how curiosity, creativity and teamwork can shape the future. Pride 2027: Be Proud, Be You! Wednesday 9th June, 9.15–9.45am Jack from Pop’n’Olly joins us for a joyful live Pride assembly celebrating what makes each of us unique. Children will explore being themselves, respecting others and standing together as allies, helping to create communities where everyone feels welcome and valued. Join Picture News live in 2026–27!
