At Picture News, we’ve been producing our <a href="https://picture-news.co.uk/resources?Category=Special%20Schools&Nationality=England&Nav=1"><b><u>Picture News Symbols</u></b><u> </u><b><u>resources</u></b></a> for several years, but now, we’ve been recognised as a <b>Symbol-Friendly Organisation</b>! Using Widgit Symbols within Picture News Symbols resources helps us to <b>ensure the needs of our schools are met</b>, including pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), cognitive or learning needs, English as an Additional Language (EAL) and more. The resources include <b>written sentences and symbol sentences</b>, and are sent to subscribed settings in PowerPoint format every Friday morning. Each resource is <b>non-prescriptive</b> and utilises <b>transparent symbols</b>, meaning everyone can access and learn from the news resources without specific training. Picture News Symbols develops learners’ understanding of what’s happening in the world with reflective open questions, sensory ideas, and picture resources for use in education settings, alongside at home learning resources. <b>Did you know?</b> Lots of schools use Picture News Symbols alongside their Picture News Primary subscription, to support every child in school to access and learn from the weekly story.
